1. Scanning

Fully Edentulous Patient Workflow

Double scan method

First, scan the patient wearing a radiographic guide(denture duplicate) with radio-opaque markers and a bite index. Next, secure the radiographic guide and scan on top of a sponge or Styrofoam-like material for stability.

This method is recommended for fully edentulous patients with little or no teeth support.

An anchor guide must be used for fully edentulous cases to properly align the surgical template within the patient’s mouth.

The anchor guide is used to establish the anchoring position of the surgical template to ensure accurate placement as planned and is in the shape of the radiographic guide with anchor pins. The anchor guide is used with the bite index to secure the location of the guide within the patient’s oral cavity.

Single or Partially Edentulous Patient Workflow

Stone model method

The stone model* method should be used for single implant and partially edentulous cases.

First, scan the patient with an open bite by securing the bite with cotton pads. Next, fabricate a stone model of the patient, secure the stone model and scan. You can also mail in the stone model and have it scanned by one of our technicians.

*Fuji rock or equivalent is recommended for stone model.

For partially edentulous cases, a stone model is used and the In2Guide Stone Model Method must be followed at all times.

In2Guide may require a calibration process to accurately determine the appropriate threshold (density) setting for your CBCT unit.

Please contact customer support for more information.

3D Scan Method

For single implant and partially edentulous cases, our 3D scan method is available as well.

First, scan the patient with an open bite by securing the bite with cotton pads. Second, scan the stone model with a 3D scanner or intra-oral scanner to obtain the stereolithography (.stl) file. In2Guide is compatible with various 3D scanners and intra-oral scanners.

Making a radiographic guide for fully edentulous patients

The In2GuideTM Radiographic Guide(Denture Duplicate) Method
The accuracy of the guided implant placement for fully edentulous cases is dependent on the accurate seating of the surgical guide. These cases are often more difficult to achieve accurate and precise results due to the difficulty in placing and anchoring the guide as planned. Inaccurate anchoring can cause poor results, and thus, the following method should be considered.

Why In2GuideTM Double Scan Method is necessary For fully edentulous cases, fabricating only a single guide can often result in mispositioned anchoring, thus compromising the entire surgery. Following In2GuideTM Denture Duplicate Method, such issues can be avoid as the 1st guide is used to anchor the guide in the precise location as the planning was intended.
